Benefits

Meeting Schedules

LMRC meets on Thursday evenings starting whenever the first person with keys shows up, usually between 7:00 and 7:30 PM.

Business meetings occur four times per year on the first Thursday in March, June, September, and December. Business meetings begin promptly at 7:30 PM and the layout is closed for operations, work or visitations.  Guests are welcome to attend the business meetings.

Operations or “Run Night” is the last Thursday of each month. The public are welcome to view the layout during operations.

Work sessions occur on all other Thursdays of the month when we have no business meeting, operations, etc. During work sessions, members work on the layout, building, and grounds. Running trains is permitted after 9:00 p.m. on work nights if it will not interfere with on-going work.

Fun Activities

Lest it sound like we're all work and no play, we haven't forgotten the first rule of Model Railroading - FUN.

Slide show and video nights are held periodically. Members bring their favorite slides or videos to show to show in the club conference room.  It's a great time to learn about railroad history.

Clinics and classes are available on a irregular basis depending on need and availability.  Please check back with this website or contact us for more information.  The Lansing Model Railroad Club is also involved with the Word's Greatest Hobby Campaign. Please check out the Word's Greatest Hobby website for more information or to request a speaker.

Field trips are coordinated periodically depending on interest and availabilty.  Past events include Amtrak rides to Chicago, railfanning Chicago, and group trips to train shows, conventions, and other events.
